Maleic Anhydride Grafted Wax is a wax additive widely used in polymer processing. This wax is a modified material by grafting maleic anhydride onto a wax based substrate. Compared with polyethylene wax it is a polymer processing aid with higher performance. Maleic anhydride grafted wax can improve material compatibility, enhance adhesion, improve thermal stability, and has excellent lubricity and dispersibility. It is widely used as a lubricant, wear-resistant agent, tackifier, and efficient dispersant in plastics, nylon, hot melt adhesives, rubber, and other materials.
Performance characteristics of maleic anhydride grafted wax:
1. Excellent internal and external lubricity: Maleic anhydride grafted wax reduces friction between polymer chains and between polymers and processing equipment during polymer processing, improving melt flow.
2. Efficient dispersant: Adding a small amount of maleic anhydride grafted wax can significantly improve the dyeing and paint performance of dyes, and improve surface smoothness;
3. Compatibility and adhesion: Due to the grafting of polar groups, maleic anhydride grafted wax can improve the compatibility and adhesion of materials with other polar substances, providing strong bonding strength while lubricating internally.
4. Polarity and reactivity: Maleic anhydride grafted wax grafts polar functional groups (such as carboxyl groups) onto non-polar wax substrates, thereby increasing the polarity and reactivity of the material.
5. Heat resistance, weather resistance, and mechanical properties: Compared with polyethylene wax, maleic anhydride grafted wax has better mechanical properties such as heat resistance, weather resistance, and total impact resistance, which broadens the application fields of materials.
Application fields of maleic anhydride grafted wax:
1. Used for color masterbatch, filling masterbatch, modified masterbatch, etc.: Maleic anhydride grafted wax is used for anti precipitation of color masterbatch and is an efficient pigment dispersant. It can also improve the extrusion rate and surface structure of the product.
2. Used for polyolefin materials and polar polymer materials: maleic anhydride grafted wax can serve as an excellent long-chain coupling agent, improving the bonding between materials and enhancing the tensile strength, impact strength, and other properties of the system.
3. Nylon, rubber, and hot melt adhesive processing: Maleic anhydride grafted wax is used as a processing aid for nylon to improve its bonding performance and processing flowability with other materials. As a wear-resistant agent, efficient dispersant, and tackifier in rubber processing, it improves the performance of rubber.
4. Maleic anhydride grafted wax, due to its carboxyl group in its chemical structure, is easy to emulsify and can be widely used in papermaking and fabric finishing.
5. Maleic anhydride grafted wax can also be used for wood plastic, wood fiber, glass fiber, as well as inorganic powders such as calcium carbonate, mica, and aluminum hydroxide.
